Ingredients

  • 30g (2 Tbsp) olive oil
  • 2 yellow onions
  • 1360g (48oz) 96% lean ground beef
  • 170g (6oz) tomato paste
  • 1360g (2 24oz jars) marinara sauce
  • 300g (1.5 cups) red lentils
  • 900g (4 cups) beef bone broth
  • 1.5 Tbsp coarse kosher salt
  • 2 Tbsp garlic powder
  • 2 Tbsp Italian seasoning
  • 2 tsp black pepper
  • 900g (32oz) ziti pasta
  • 240g (1 cup) 2% cottage cheese
  • 240g (1 cup) parmesan cheese
  • freshly grated mozzarella cheese
  • basil

Instructions

  1. Cook down two onions till browned, push to the side.
  2. Brown 1360g of extra lean ground beef.
  3. Add 170g of tomato paste and seasonings, cook for five minutes.
  4. Add 1360g of marinara sauce and 300g of red lentils.
  5. Pour over 900g of beef bone broth, cover, and cook for about 45 minutes to an hour over medium low heat.
  6. Add 900g of cooked ziti to a foil roasting rack.
  7. Pour over the meat sauce, then add ricotta, cottage cheese, parmesan, and basil.
  8. Top off with another half jar of marinara sauce and some freshly grated mozzarella cheese.
  9. Place on top of a sheet pan and bake in the oven at 400 degrees until the cheese is beautifully brown.
  10. Divide into 15 equally sized servings.
