Smash Burgers
Ingredients
- 1 ½ lbs ground beef, 80/20
- Salt and pepper
- 12 slices American cheese
- 6 hamburger buns
- 3/4 cup mayonnaise
- 3 Tablespoons ketchup
- 1 Tablespoon yellow mustard
- 1 to 2 Tablespoons pickle juice, to taste
- 1 to 2 Tablespoons BBQ sauce, to taste
- Thinly sliced onions (optional)
- Dill pickle slices (optional)
- Lettuce (optional)
- Sliced tomato (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat a skillet or griddle over high heat.
- Divide the ground beef into equal portions and form into balls.
- Place the beef balls on the hot surface and smash them down to form thin patties.
- Season the patties with salt and pepper.
- Cook until the edges are crispy and the juices are bubbling, about 2-3 minutes.
- Flip the patties and immediately place a slice of American cheese on each patty.
- Cook for an additional minute until the cheese is melted.
- Toast the hamburger buns on the skillet until golden.
- Assemble the burgers by placing the patties on the buns and adding burger sauce and any desired toppings.
