Ingredients

  • 1 ½ lbs ground beef, 80/20
  • Salt and pepper
  • 12 slices American cheese
  • 6 hamburger buns
  • 3/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 3 Tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 Tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1 to 2 Tablespoons pickle juice, to taste
  • 1 to 2 Tablespoons BBQ sauce, to taste
  • Thinly sliced onions (optional)
  • Dill pickle slices (optional)
  • Lettuce (optional)
  • Sliced tomato (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat a skillet or griddle over high heat.
  2. Divide the ground beef into equal portions and form into balls.
  3. Place the beef balls on the hot surface and smash them down to form thin patties.
  4. Season the patties with salt and pepper.
  5. Cook until the edges are crispy and the juices are bubbling, about 2-3 minutes.
  6. Flip the patties and immediately place a slice of American cheese on each patty.
  7. Cook for an additional minute until the cheese is melted.
  8. Toast the hamburger buns on the skillet until golden.
  9. Assemble the burgers by placing the patties on the buns and adding burger sauce and any desired toppings.
