Ingredients

  • 2 lbs chicken thighs
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • black pepper
  • 1/3 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tbsp ketchup
  • 1/2 cup apple juice
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1/3 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 in grated ginger
  • 3 garlic cloves, grated
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch, dissolved in water

Instructions

  1. Season chicken thighs with garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and black pepper.
  2. Add chicken to a hot cast iron pan and brown both sides.
  3. Remove chicken and let it rest.
  4. In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, hoisin, ketchup, apple cider vinegar, water, apple juice, and brown sugar.
  5. Add grated garlic and grated ginger to the bowl and whisk until homogenous.
  6. Pour the sauce into the pan to reduce.
  7. Cut the chicken into bite-sized pieces.
  8. Once the sauce is reduced, add in the cornstarch slurry to thicken and add back in the chicken.
