Ingredients
- 2 lbs chicken thighs
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp paprika
- black pepper
- 1/3 cup soy sauce
- 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
- 1 tbsp ketchup
- 1/2 cup apple juice
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 1/3 cup light brown sugar
- 1 in grated ginger
- 3 garlic cloves, grated
- 1 tbsp cornstarch, dissolved in water
Instructions
- Season chicken thighs with garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and black pepper.
- Add chicken to a hot cast iron pan and brown both sides.
- Remove chicken and let it rest.
- In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, hoisin, ketchup, apple cider vinegar, water, apple juice, and brown sugar.
- Add grated garlic and grated ginger to the bowl and whisk until homogenous.
- Pour the sauce into the pan to reduce.
- Cut the chicken into bite-sized pieces.
- Once the sauce is reduced, add in the cornstarch slurry to thicken and add back in the chicken.
