Ingredients

  • 1 brioche loaf, sliced
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 sticks butter
  • 2 tbsp cream
  • lemon zest
  • 2 tbsp honey

Instructions

  1. Slice the brioche loaf into about an inch and a half slices.
  2. If the bread is not stale, dry it out in the oven for about 10 minutes.
  3. In a bowl, crack in 2 eggs, add 1 cup of milk, 1 tsp of vanilla extract, and 1/2 tsp of cinnamon, then whisk carefully.
  4. Add 2 sticks of softened butter, a little splash of cream, a tiny bit of lemon zest, and 2 tbsp of honey to the mixture, then whisk again.
  5. Soak each slice of French toast in the mixture for only 30 seconds on each side.
  6. Cook the soaked French toast on a buttered flat top, flipping a few times and cooking for a couple of minutes.
  7. Smother each piece with the butter so it melts, then dust with powdered sugar and serve with syrup.
